Public Advisory

The City of Demorest Water Department has issued a boil water advisory due to a water main break today (August 12, 2017) on Hazel Creek Rd in Mt. Airy, Georgia.

If you live on the following roads in Habersham County and you lost water pressure today and are on the City of Demorest Water System, please boil your water for the next 48 hours or until further notice.

HWY 197 Hazel Creek Rd to HWY 365
Cody Road, Kinney Mill Road, Blacksnake Road, North Mize Road, Canterbury Trail, Dicks Hill Parkway, Rock Rd, Antioch Church Road,

In order to protect the public from a potential health hazard, all citizens who are water customers of the City of Demorest in the affected areas are advised to “boil” all water prior to use for drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food. The water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil. Citizens should continue to boil their water until they are notified by the City of Demorest that the water system has been restored to full operation and that the microbiological quality of the water in the distribution system is safe for human consumption. The City of Demorest will issue a public notice to lift the advisory.

Please call the offices of City Hall at 706-778-4202 or email if you have any questions or concerns.
